Blayney To Bathurst (B2B) 70km

April 21st 2013. The weather gods turned on a spectacular day for the 2013 B2B Cyclo Sportif. Beautiful brisk, clear and calm morning for the start in Blayney. Having spent the first 30 years of my life in Bathurst, I know this is not always the case at this time of year. We were lucky.

Riding a fast time wasn't the plan and as my last ride on these roads would have most likely been on a single speed that was my beast of choice.

Chipped and ready to go.

The last time I rode this route was in the 1970s and from memory the roads around Newbridge (at the kink on the RHS of the 'V') were mostly gravel.

It's downhill all the way, almost. The pinch up to Mt Panorama in the last couple of kms had a few riders struggling.

Spinny! I was definitely under geared.

I took no photos en route but this is a very pleasant ride and not a problem on single speed. It you're up for a road trip and a great ride on quiet country roads, this is the one for you!
