Credit Where Due

As far as Apple products go I'm definitely not a fan.

The Macs we used at Uni were most unimpressive, and those who know me should remember that I became frustrated enough with a constantly malfunctioning iPod Classic to drive over it, that's right with my car and on purpose.

After vowing never to buy another Apple product a few months ago I relented and bought an iPod Shuffle. The rationale was that the Shuffle is super small, has reasonable battery life and there doesn't seem to be much competition in that market. Not that it influenced the decision, but my employer is an Apple Partner so we get a small discount by purchasing direct from Apple, about four percent... woo-hoo!

Being as small as it is, the Shuffle can be inconspicuously stowed in the pocket of a shirt. This can be a bad thing when the said shirt makes its way into a washing machine.

Yes, the Shuffle went through a full wash cycle. And yes it still works. The only thing that didn't work immediately was the pause button, but by the next morning that was working as well. Totally unexpected when there's no claim of the product being even water resistant. So credit where due, I'm impressed.

The Bad and the Good

Even more frustrating than the constant malfunctioning of the iPod Classic was the small amount of damage it sustained from being run over. Just a few small dents on the edge of the back cover.

Impressed by the Shuffle's waterproofness, but still not an Apple fan.
