Vientiane, Laos

The view from our motel room at the Sabaidee@Laos Hotel. The room was pretty reasonable, probably 3.5 stars as we know it.

One of the main streets, Rue Samsenthai.

That Dam Stupa (that's what the map says). What about the incense?

As we were here in Vientiane we decided to stay a day and have a look around. So after a trip to the Tourist Information Centre we decided to have a look at the COPE Centre which supports victims of unexploded ordnance, mostly cluster bombs. From memory, I think the estimate was around 28 million unexploded bombies (the single cluster bombs) still exist today in the Laos countryside. Sad that the Laos people are still suffering the effects 30 years after the bombings.

Bombies.

Sue in a shower of cluster bombs.

Anyone for a dance? No excuses for two left feet here.

We fly to Hanoi tonight.
