Ha Long Bay in northern Vietnam was recently added to the list of World Heritage Sites. It is a very beautiful and unique place. After speaking to the travel broker at our Hanoi hotel, we decided on the the boat trip which went through Ha Long bay but stopped overnight at the more pristine and uncrowded Bai Tu Long bay.
From our cabin.
All the food was included. Mostly seafood and mostly squid. We were both over it by the end of the cruise. That's Steve and Lacey front right. Steve was an IT geek so we had a lot to talk about. Nice people.
Mmmm, raw jellyfish. Not as bad as it sounds.
We were rowed to a floating fishing village. So many sand flies!
Scenic. Pity the weather wasn't better.
We kayaked to a cave which was used as a hide-out during the war. These are allegedly writings from that time. Can you translate this JT?
Just in case that wild water you can see in the background flips the kayak.
We enjoyed the night on the boat. The bay was so calm you had to imagine the wave motion.
